Granite is an intrusive igneous rock, that means a rock that has formed following the cooling of the magma.
Its name comes from the Latin word “granum” (grain), with clear reference to its medium and coarser granular texture.
The main physical characteristics of granites are the level of brilliance bestowed by its high content percentage of quartz and its hardness that makes it suitable for use on kitchen counter tops and bathroom tops. In addition to quartz, granite is also composed of mineral elements that bestow a different colour depending on the origin.
